Seven Emeralds down.
Now we finally get to find out what SEGA has been collecting them for.
Sonic’s Chaos Hunt has officially been completed, with the Sonic Squad successfully recovering the seventh and final Chaos Emerald from the campaign’s Special Stage. Sonic’s official account confirmed the result with a new message declaring the hunt over and turning attention toward the next stage of the 35th anniversary celebration: powering Club Chaos.
And, well, that is currently all SEGA is giving us.
The campaign began in July as part of Sonic’s wider 35th anniversary celebrations, challenging fans to recover scattered Emeralds before Dr. Eggman could get his hands on them. Sonic City has followed the hunt throughout its run, from the original nationwide launch through physical Emerald drops in cities across the United States and the eventual final stretch toward Club Chaos.
Several of those stops grew into substantial Sonic events of their own. San Diego Comic-Con hosted the fourth Emerald drop with Sonic and Tails, while Chicago brought the Cyan Emerald alongside Sonic and Shadow. The sixth physical drop then reached New York City, where Sonic and Shadow appeared at The High Line and attendees received the exclusive Fortnite x Sonic the Hedgehog comic that ultimately revealed Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles’ Fortnite involvement.
The final Emerald was handled differently, arriving through the campaign’s Special Stage community component rather than another newly announced physical city activation. With that objective now cleared, all seven Emeralds have officially been accounted for and SEGA says they can finally be used to power Club Chaos.
We have previously reported that Club Chaos is scheduled for October 9 in New York City, with trips to the event offered as grand prizes throughout the Chaos Hunt. Beyond that, however, SEGA is still being deliberately vague about exactly what the celebration will contain.
That means we would not start filling the empty space with assumed game announcements, livestreams, pop-up shops or surprise reveals just yet. SEGA’s latest message simply says more details will be revealed soon.
So after weeks of running around the country, scanning Emeralds, meeting Sonic characters and completing the final Special Stage, the Sonic Squad has successfully unlocked…
And now we wait.
At least this one should not take another 35 years.
With the Chaos Hunt complete and Club Chaos now officially ready to power up, the next announcement should finally tell us what Sonic’s major anniversary event has been building toward.
