Sonic’s Chaos Hunt Continues in Chicago With Shadow the Hedgehog

Sonic’s Chaos Hunt continued its journey across the United States with a fifth Chaos Emerald drop in Chicago, bringing Shadow the Hedgehog along for a major promotional appearance.

The Chicago activation took place on August 1 at Maggie Daley Park, just outside Lollapalooza, where fans were invited to track down the Cyan Chaos Emerald and meet Sonic and Shadow in person.

Shadow the Hedgehog was a major part of the activation, appearing alongside Sonic throughout the event.

Fans visiting the activation could take photos with both characters throughout the day while participating in the latest stage of Sonic’s nationwide Chaos Hunt campaign.

Limited collectibles were also available for early arrivals. The first 100 fans received a free Chaos Hunt shirt, while the first 250 received an exclusive enamel pin featuring Shadow alongside the Cyan Chaos Emerald.

Visitors could also scan a QR code at the activation to digitally collect the Cyan Emerald and enter the Chaos Hunt grand prize drawing.

The grand prize offers an all-expenses-paid trip to Club Chaos, Sonic’s upcoming 35th anniversary celebration in New York City on October 9.

Chicago represented the fifth physical Emerald drop in the campaign, continuing SEGA’s series of real-world Sonic activations across the United States. Each location has centered on recovering another scattered Emerald while offering location-specific character appearances and collectibles.

The Chicago stop was particularly notable for putting Shadow at the center of the event. Following his increasingly prominent role across Sonic games, merchandise, animation, and the Sonic movie series, the appearance gave fans a high-profile opportunity to meet an official live version of the Ultimate Life Form.

With the Cyan Emerald now joining the growing collection, Sonic’s Chaos Hunt continues on the road toward Club Chaos this October.
