SEGA has launched Sonic’s Chaos Hunt, a new nationwide campaign inviting fans across the United States to help Sonic and his friends recover a collection of scattered Emeralds.

According to the campaign’s story, Sonic and his friends were using the Emeralds to power Club Chaos, an upcoming celebration marking Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary. However, the Emeralds became unstable and scattered across the United States before the party could be activated.

Fans are now being asked to race against Dr. Eggman, follow the clues, and help Sonic recover the missing Emeralds before they fall into the wrong hands.

The campaign was introduced through a special Gotta Go Fast TV report featuring Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka, who issued a public statement about the situation and called on fans to join the hunt.

At the time of the latest campaign update, the Emerald Tracker displayed three Emeralds as found and five as still missing. Additional sightings and clues will be shared as the hunt continues.

Each recovered Emerald will unlock a chance for fans to win exclusive Sonic prizes. Announced rewards include Sonic-branded merchandise such as a letterman jacket, plush toys, games, and other limited items.

The campaign’s grand prize is an Ultimate VIP Club Chaos experience for the winner and one guest. The package includes airfare, accommodation, and tickets to the grand opening of Club Chaos in New York City.

Club Chaos will take place for one night only on Friday, October 9, 2026 in Brooklyn, New York. The anniversary celebration will feature music, merchandise, games, and other Sonic-themed activities.

General admission tickets for Club Chaos are scheduled to go on sale on August 28.

Fans can follow the campaign through the official Sonic’s Chaos Hunt website, which includes the Emerald Tracker, campaign updates, prize information, and details about Club Chaos: https://sonicchaoshunt.com

Fans can also join the Sonic Squad to receive clues and campaign updates through text messages. Signing up for the SMS service is optional and is not required to participate in the Chaos Hunt. Updates will also be shared through Sonic’s official Instagram account.

The text messaging service is powered by Community, an external enterprise SMS platform. According to the campaign FAQ, phone numbers will only be used to deliver Chaos Hunt updates during the campaign and will not be sold, shared with third parties, or used to train AI models.

Fans can unsubscribe from the SMS updates at any time by replying “STOP,” with campaign data scheduled to be removed from the platform once the Chaos Hunt concludes.

Takashi Iizuka’s statement about the campaign can be watched below:
