Simple Modern has announced a new partnership with SEGA and Sonic the Hedgehog, launching a Sonic-themed product line ahead of the franchise’s 35th anniversary and the 2026 back-to-school season.
The new collection will include co-branded backpacks, lunch boxes, and drinkware designed for preschool and elementary-aged kids. Simple Modern says the products will feature colorful Sonic-inspired designs, giving families new everyday school items based on one of gaming’s most recognizable franchises.

The lineup will also include personalized customization options, with Simple Modern planning to offer laser-engraved drinkware and embroidered backpacks and lunch boxes as part of the collection.
“We’re excited to partner with Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time and bring these products to families heading into back-to-school season,” said Garrett Mueller, Licensing Manager at Simple Modern. “Sonic is a franchise that has remained incredibly recognizable and relevant across generations, and we think kids are going to love seeing these characters brought to life across products they use every day.”
Mueller also said the collection is designed to capture Sonic’s “fun, energy and personality” while still delivering the product quality families expect from Simple Modern.
Simple Modern is known for drinkware and consumer goods, with products sold through major retail partners including Amazon, Target, and Walmart. The company has also built a large licensed product portfolio through collaborations with brands and franchises such as Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Paramount, Hasbro, Warner Bros., Bluey, Universal Studios, Fortnite, Minecraft, Moonbug, Sesame Street, major sports leagues, and more than 100 colleges and universities.
The Sonic the Hedgehog collection continues the company’s push into entertainment, gaming, and lifestyle partnerships, while also adding another family-focused merchandise release to Sonic’s 35th anniversary year.
SEGA and Simple Modern have not yet shared a full product list, pricing, exact release date, or retailer availability for the Sonic collection. More details are expected as the back-to-school season approaches.
