SEGA Sammy has shared updated sales figures for several Sonic the Hedgehog titles in its latest Management Meeting 2026 report, giving fans a clearer look at how recent and catalogue Sonic games are performing.

According to the report’s repeat unit sales table, Sonic Frontiers has now reached 4.94 million units worldwide. That puts the 2022 open-zone title close to the 5 million milestone, just as Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition appears to be nearing release for Nintendo Switch 2.

Sonic X Shadow Generations has also passed a major milestone, with SEGA listing the title at 3.07 million units. The figure includes the Nintendo Switch 2 version and shows continued momentum for the Shadow-focused remaster and expansion following its original launch.

Team Sonic Racing is listed at 3.50 million units, while Sonic Superstars has reached 2.88 million units. Sonic Superstars added 430,000 units during FY2026/3, while Sonic Frontiers added 360,000 units during the same period. Team Sonic Racing also continued to move units years after release, adding 130,000 during FY2026/3.

The updated Sonic figures listed in the report are:

  • Sonic Frontiers: 4.94 million units
  • Team Sonic Racing: 3.50 million units
  • Sonic X Shadow Generations: 3.07 million units
  • Sonic Superstars: 2.88 million units

Notably, SEGA did not provide a new sales figure for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in this section of the report. The company instead used Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as one example of a title that received strong evaluations but fell short of sales expectations, listing the game with a Metascore of 82 and a user score of 8.6.

That lines up with SEGA’s broader comments about challenges in full game sales. The company says consumer touchpoints have changed significantly, with digital purchases, social media, streaming content, influencers, and user recommendations now playing a larger role than older awareness drivers such as TV commercials and web ads.

In response, SEGA says it is working toward a sales transformation built around a more global publishing structure and a stronger focus on fandom. The company plans to integrate East and West publishing organizations, standardize data and KPI management globally, and shift from mass advertising toward fan-driven promotion and third-party recommendations.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is still part of SEGA’s upcoming roadmap, with Season Pass 2 planned for release and collaborations with Godzilla, Evangelion, and more already confirmed. However, the lack of an updated sales figure suggests SEGA is not yet ready to share a new milestone for the racing title.

The report also lists two unidentified “new title from flagship IP” entries in SEGA’s FY2027/3 lineup, though it does not confirm whether either title is connected to Sonic. SEGA also highlights Sonic’s 35th anniversary and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 as part of its wider transmedia strategy, with the company aiming to grow IP value through games, movies, licensing, music, events, merchandise, and other fan touchpoints.

For Sonic, the report paints a mixed but important picture. Sonic Frontiers and Sonic X Shadow Generations continue to show strong long-term performance, while Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds appears to have fallen short of SEGA’s initial expectations despite positive reception. With Sonic’s 35th anniversary underway, Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition seemingly close, and more CrossWorlds content planned, SEGA still appears to be positioning the franchise as one of its key global pillars moving forward.
