SEGA has released “Speed Is My Life,” a new Sonic the Hedgehog song created to celebrate the franchise’s 35th anniversary.
The track debuted during the Sonic Birthday Livestream and has now been posted on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel, giving fans another major music release tied to Sonic’s anniversary year.
“Speed Is My Life” is performed by Nathan Sharp, better known as NateWantsToBattle. The song features music by longtime Sonic composer Jun Senoue, lyrics and vocal arrangement by Tee Lopes, and arrangement by Jun Senoue and Takahiro Kai.
According to SEGA’s rollout, the song draws inspiration from several classic Sonic games, making it a fitting anniversary track for a series whose music has remained one of its most recognizable strengths since 1991.
The release also connects directly to SEGA MUSIC’s Forever Fast – 35th Anniversary of Sonic The Hedgehog compilation album, where “Speed Is My Life” appears as one of the included tracks. The album collects vocal themes from across Sonic’s history, with physical copies already beginning to reach some fans ahead of the wider release.
Sharp has become closely associated with Sonic anniversary music in recent years, having performed during the Sonic 30th Anniversary Symphony and appearing again for Sonic’s 35th anniversary through both Forever Fast and this new song.
With “Speed Is My Life,” SEGA is adding another original vocal theme to Sonic’s anniversary celebrations, continuing a year that has already included new music, merchandise, collaborations, live events, and special projects across the franchise.
