The International Olympic Committee and SEGA have unveiled the first Sonic x Olympic co-branded merchandise collection, launching in celebration of Olympic Day and Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary.

The special-edition collection was released on June 23, a fitting date that marks both Olympic Day and Sonic’s 35th birthday. The lineup brings together the Olympic rings and Sonic the Hedgehog in a new set of designs built around movement, perseverance, friendship, excellence, and respect.

The Sonic x Olympic collection features five colorful T-shirt and hoodie designs, each centered on Sonic and friends taking part in different Olympic sports. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow are featured across designs inspired by basketball, skateboarding, weightlifting, tennis, and football.

The collection also connects to “Let’s Move,” the IOC’s global sports participation initiative and the theme of this year’s Olympic Day. The campaign’s message, “You Can Do This,” is designed to encourage young people to take the first step toward movement, even if they feel awkward, uncertain, or imperfect at first.

Sonic is a natural fit for that message. Known for speed, confidence, determination, and forward momentum, the Blue Blur has represented movement since his debut in 1991. With Olympic Day falling on the same date as Sonic’s anniversary, the collaboration ties both celebrations together through a shared focus on getting active and moving forward.

This collection is also the first release under the multi-year licensing framework between the IOC and SEGA CORPORATION. The agreement is designed to support a co-branded merchandise program that combines the Olympic rings with Sonic the Hedgehog through official licensed products.

The wider licensing strategy aims to connect fans with the Olympic brand throughout the year, while Sonic’s inclusion gives the campaign a recognizable gaming icon with a long history of speed, competition, and global appeal.

The Sonic x Olympic collection is available now through the Olympic Shop.
