Sonic’s upcoming Odaiba takeover is getting an indoor component too.

ULTRA PLANET has announced a new limited-time ULTRA STORE at DECKS Tokyo Beach, opening from September 4 through September 23 with Sonic the Hedgehog among five featured properties. Sonic will receive dedicated 35th anniversary merchandise, while the wider store will carry more than 500 products across Sonic, Puyo Puyo, Persona, Tokyo Revengers and Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-.

The shop will be located on the third floor of DECKS Tokyo Beach inside LED DAIBA STUDIO, and admission itself is free. Rather than operating as a conventional merchandise pop-up, ULTRA PLANET is pitching the space around a “STORE × LBE” concept, combining licensed products with location-based entertainment built around the studio’s large LED installations.

Those screens will show footage from the participating properties, including Sonic, alongside an original digital-art presentation titled THE MOON. Created by Shūhei Matsuyama of enigma, the piece combines traditional Japanese moon-viewing imagery with modern digital visuals, presenting the experience as something closer to an immersive attraction than a few TVs running trailers behind the checkout counter.

For Sonic fans, the timing is particularly convenient. The ULTRA STORE opens on the same day as ODAIBA DRONE SHOW 2026, which Sonic City covered yesterday and will see more than 1,000 drones recreate Sonic and other characters above Tokyo Bay. The two events are separate, but they form part of the same wider Odaiba entertainment push, and the store will remain open until 10:00 PM on drone-show dates so visitors can reasonably fit both into the same trip.

The normal ULTRA STORE hours will run from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekends and holidays, extending to 10:00 PM whenever the drone show is being held. Sonic and Puyo Puyo are both being represented with merchandise celebrating their 35th anniversaries, while Persona receives its own 30th anniversary selection.

There is also a free Odaiba Digital Stamp Rally running for the entire September 4 to 23 period. Visitors can scan QR codes displayed on posters at designated locations around Odaiba, collect stamps from three different spots, then head back to the ULTRA STORE to claim a reward. Prizes include admission tickets to Tokyo Joypolis, which is itself celebrating 30 years since opening in 1996.

That makes the store a useful companion piece to the drone show rather than simply another place selling Sonic goods. During the day, visitors can hunt down stamps, browse the 35th anniversary range and see Sonic across the LED installations, then head outside later to watch him get recreated at enormous scale above Tokyo Bay.

We already have the nighttime part covered. Now Odaiba apparently has something for Sonic fans to do while waiting for the sun to go down too.

The ULTRA STORE will operate from September 4 through September 23, 2026, at LED DAIBA STUDIO on the third floor of DECKS Tokyo Beach in Odaiba, Tokyo. Admission to both the store and digital stamp rally is free, although merchandise is sold separately.
