After being lovingly restored in 2023, the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog statue from the defunct SegaWorld London theme park has found a new home—this time inside Sega Europe’s freshly relocated office in Chiswick Business Park, London.
A drone tour released by the company showcases its sleek new HQ, complete with modern amenities like ping-pong tables, relaxation zones, and a digital gallery. Among the highlights is a wall-length timeline chronicling Sega’s rich gaming history—but standing tall above it all is the blue blur himself, proudly balancing the familiar spinning globe on his finger.
Originally installed in 1996 at SegaWorld London—Sega’s ambitious arcade and theme park in the Trocadero Centre—the statue was once a centrepiece of the venue. The park itself featured VR rides, motion simulators, and a towering presence of arcade titles, all brought to life in partnership with entertainment firm Chorion. Following Sega’s exit, the site became Funland Arcade and the Sonic statue was presumed lost.
That changed in 2019, when the statue resurfaced and was recovered thanks to the efforts of Danny Russell from Sega Forever. Restoration duties were handled by the team at 13 Finger FX, a special effects house based in Croydon. Their work ensured that Sonic’s most legendary UK appearance could once again shine.
After 20 years at its previous office near Brentford Football Club, Sega Europe’s move to Chiswick not only represents a fresh start for the company—it also marks a symbolic return for one of Sonic’s most beloved relics.
