Sonic the Hedgehog is heading back to weekday television, with MeTV Toons adding the 1993 animated series better known to fans as Sonic SatAM to its fall schedule.

MeTV Toons originally announced the addition on August 20, with SatAM set to begin airing Monday, September 21. The series will have a regular weekday slot at 8:00 AM ET / 7:00 AM CT.

For anyone wondering which of Sonic’s many animated adventures is getting the slot, this is the one with Sonic and Princess Sally Acorn leading the Freedom Fighters from Knothole against Dr. Robotnik.

The move gives SatAM a recurring place on the network rather than a one-off Sonic appearance. MeTV Toons has previously aired Sonic Christmas Blast, but the September schedule brings the main 1993 series into its weekday rotation.

SatAM joins several other cartoons being added to MeTV Toons this fall. Quick Draw McGraw also arrives September 21, while Heathcliff is joining the weekday lineup at 4:30 PM ET / 3:30 PM CT.

For Sonic fans, though, the fun part is simply seeing this particular version of the series back in a regular television slot. SatAM remains one of the most distinctive Sonic adaptations, with its darker Robotnik-controlled setting, Knothole resistance and cast of Freedom Fighters giving it an identity very different from the other Sonic cartoons of the era.

Sonic the Hedgehog begins airing on MeTV Toons September 21, weekdays at 8:00 AM ET / 7:00 AM CT.
