The latest and final season of Netflix’s animated series Big Mouth was released on May 23. For those unfamiliar, Big Mouth is an adult animated comedy about teens navigating the awkward and chaotic challenges of puberty. It follows friends Nick and Andrew as they deal with hormones, changes, and growing up—often guided (and tormented) by outlandish characters like the Hormone Monster. The series is known for its surreal humor, crude jokes, and focus on topics like sex, identity, and adolescence.

In Season 8, Episode 2—titled “Cliques, Pricks and Sonic’s Dick”—Jessi and Jay partner up to raise a melon “baby,” Missy faces her fears, and Nick tries to win over a group of ultra-rich kids, leaving his friend Andrew behind. Things quickly escalate when his new friend also named Andrew, now desperate to fit in, learns of a yacht party hosted by the so-called “Rich Pricks.” The guest list includes Kylie Jenner, the Winklevoss twins, and—surprisingly—Sonic the Hedgehog. Yes, apparently Sonic has joined the elite upper crust of society. We guess all those rings really did add up.

What follows is peak Big Mouth absurdity. Andrew becomes bizarrely obsessed with a single question: what color is Sonic’s private area? Is it blue like his fur, or pink like a pig’s? The show leans into this with full comedic force, pushing its signature brand of raunchy humor.

Later in the episode, after a falling-out with Nick, Andrew undergoes an initiation ritual with the rich kids at a cemetery. Their idea of bonding? Finding the “poorest grave” and urinating on it. And who just so happens to be there, leading the charge? None other than Sonic himself—drawn in a way that closely resembles his infamous early movie design. In a wildly exaggerated sequence, Sonic steals the scene in the most unexpected and over-the-top way imaginable, answering Andrew’s earlier question in the most unfiltered fashion. Nick walks in mid-scene, Sonic panics, and escapes through a convenient Green Hill-style loop, complete with rings and springs—because of course there’s a classic Sonic set piece in a graveyard.

As ridiculous as it sounds, yes, this actually happened. If you need visual confirmation, we’ve included a clip compilation below:

It’s clear Big Mouth wanted to make its final season as memorable—and outrageous—as possible. Whether Sonic’s cameo was meant as a jab at pop culture, a viral moment, or simply a wild gag, it definitely got people talking. Including us.
