SEGA has shared updated sales figures for several of its major game franchises as part of its latest financial results, covering the January to March 2026 quarter.
According to the company’s newly released figures, the Sonic the Hedgehog series sold 990,000 units during the quarter. Sonic ranked behind Like a Dragon and Judgment, which reached 1.38 million units combined, while placing ahead of Persona at 880,000 units and Total War at 630,000 units.
The reported franchise sales for the quarter were:
- Sonic the Hedgehog: 990,000 units
- Total War: 630,000 units
- Persona: 880,000 units
- Like a Dragon and Judgment: 1.38 million units

The figures come alongside SEGA Sammy’s broader financial report for the fiscal year ending March 2026. During the year, SEGA saw revenue from full-price games decline by 12 percent year-on-year, with both new releases and catalogue titles performing below the previous year.
Revenue from newly released titles was down 11 percent, while catalogue sales were down 12.6 percent. SEGA’s releases during the period included Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Persona 3 Reload console versions, Football Manager 26, and Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, among others.
Looking ahead, SEGA expects a stronger performance during the current fiscal year, running from April 2026 through March 2027. The company is forecasting a 41.8 percent year-on-year increase in annual revenue, driven by four major full game releases planned for the period.
One of those titles is Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Stranger Than Heaven, currently planned for Winter 2026. The remaining major releases have not yet been fully confirmed, though SEGA has previously announced projects such as Persona 4 Revival, New Virtua Fighter Project, and Total War: Warhammer 40,000.
SEGA’s free-to-play business also saw mixed results. While annual revenue from free-to-play titles grew by 14 percent overall, that growth was carried by existing games. New free-to-play releases, including Sonic Rumble Party and Persona 5: The Phantom X, performed below expectations.
As previously reported, SEGA is now lowering the priority of free-to-play development and moving more than 100 developers toward full game projects focused on mainstay IPs. The company has also shelved its long-discussed “Super Game” initiative, while confirming that announced titles such as Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage remain in development.
For Sonic, the latest quarterly figure shows the franchise continuing to deliver steady sales across its catalogue and recent releases, even as SEGA adjusts its wider strategy around premium games, free-to-play projects, and long-term franchise planning.
