SONIC PICO PARK is adding Cream the Rabbit, Cheese the Chao and Big the Cat to its growing cast, and producer Shintaro Shimazu says there are still more characters waiting to be revealed.
The newcomers were shown in a new character trailer during the game’s second Tokyo Game Show 2026 special on September 20. SEGA’s official TGS schedule lists Shimazu as producer and confirms the programme as part of the company’s Sonic stage lineup.
Cream and Cheese are explicitly introduced as new playable characters, joining Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Shadow. The trailer also confirms that every playable character can use the Spin Dash, with stages incorporating familiar Sonic elements including Rings, loops and springs.
Big works a little differently. The trailer identifies him as a large character rather than adding him to the standard playable lineup. In certain stages, players can borrow Big’s strength to progress, with the footage showing his much larger size being used as part of the puzzle design.
That distinction gives the game two different ways of bringing Sonic characters into its puzzles. Cream and Cheese join the regular roster, while Big appears when a stage calls for one of the larger characters.
The bigger tease came shortly afterward during SONIC PICO PARK TGS Official Special: Minna de Sonipico! #2.
After the presenters ran through Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Cream, Cheese and Big, Shimazu responded with “there’s still more.” He explained that Takashi Iizuka’s original request was for the team to include as many characters as possible to help celebrate Sonic’s 35th anniversary, adding that they are currently revealing them little by little. The exchange begins at around 25:07 in the broadcast.
That means Cream, Cheese and Big are not the end of the character rollout. SEGA and PICO PARK Inc. have not said who else is coming, but the current lineup is still incomplete.
The game will also retain the original PICO PARK side of the crossover. During the TGS presentation, Shimazu confirmed that players can use the familiar PICO CAT as well as Sonic PICO CAT, alongside the expanding Sonic cast.
As Sonic City reported earlier this month, SONIC PICO PARK launches in Japan November 12, and November 11, 2026 in Western territories for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. It supports two to eight players locally and online.
With the roster still being revealed piece by piece, there should be at least a few more familiar faces to meet before launch.
