Characters can also build up speed by continuing to move in the same direction, entering a dash state. While dashing or using the Spin Dash, players can climb curved half-pipe-like walls and run through 360-degree loops, bringing Sonic-style momentum-based action into the cooperative puzzle format. Rings are used as part of the game’s puzzle and damage systems. In one demonstrated stage, players encounter unavoidable spike hazards that cause a failure if any character is hit. A single Ring placed earlier in the stage allows one player to take the hit without failing, causing the Ring to scatter and removing the obstacle. Another puzzle places four Rings beneath an unavoidable descending laser, requiring each of the four players in the demo to take one Ring so that everyone can survive the hazard.
