Something strange is happening with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and mobile devices.

What initially looked like a confusing third-party store listing has now been followed by purported Apple App Store CDN material suggesting CrossWorlds could be coming to Apple Arcade, potentially bringing SEGA’s full racing game to iPhone, iPad and other supported Apple devices.

And this actually started on our side a few days ago.

Some of Sonic City’s Facebook followers first pointed us toward a TapTap listing for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that appeared under an Android/iOS page, despite the actual product information only referencing the existing Windows release.

The page is still live, and things remain appropriately confusing.

TapTap currently titles it Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Android/iOS, and some users have been presented with a “Pre-register” option. However, that button currently leads directly to the game’s Steam page, while TapTap’s own announcement history says the title was scheduled to release on September 26, 2025 for PC. The page also lists September 26, 2025 as its release date and contains the standard PC description and Digital Deluxe Edition information.

So taken by itself, we would not have considered the TapTap page evidence of an actual mobile port.

Then this appeared.

A post on the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds subreddit has shared several images allegedly obtained from a Discord server that surfaces CDN assets from the Apple App Store and Google Play. According to the poster, the material specifically points toward Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds joining Apple Arcade.

The purported promotional material reportedly goes considerably further than simply showing an Apple Arcade logo.

Among the claims visible in or attached to the images are cross-progression support and a description saying players can race through more than 18 CrossWorlds. A subsequent post on GamingLeaksAndRumours independently summarized the same material as showing an Apple Arcade version, cross-progression and “over 18 CrossWorlds.”

That last number immediately stands out.

The currently released version of CrossWorlds officially advertises 15 CrossWorlds, alongside 24 main tracks. SEGA’s official site still lists the game’s supported platforms as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Epic Games. No iPhone, iPad, Android or Apple Arcade version is currently announced.

With CrossWorlds already moving into its second year of downloadable content, an eventual version containing additional CrossWorlds is not impossible. But the “over 18” figure should absolutely not be taken as confirmation of three or more unannounced stages. It comes solely from the leaked material at this point.

The alleged cross-progression slide has also become one of the biggest reasons for skepticism.

Users quickly noticed that an image illustrating the feature appears to show a Nintendo Switch, which led some to conclude that the whole thing was fake. The original Reddit poster says they raised that exact issue with the source of the images and were told publishers frequently use temporary imagery before store assets are finalized.

That explanation is plausible for unfinished marketing material.

It is not proof that these images are genuine.

There is another oddity here too: according to the original poster, the source only had Apple App Store material, with no corresponding Google Play screenshots. That means even if the leak is authentic, there is currently no equivalent evidence that CrossWorlds is heading to Android.

So at the moment, this is specifically an Apple Arcade rumor, not confirmation of a general iOS and Android release.

The TapTap listing makes the whole situation more interesting because it predates this Reddit discovery and independently attached Android/iOS wording to CrossWorlds. But it also needs to be kept in perspective. TapTap’s actual product data still points toward Steam and Windows, meaning the page could simply be suffering from incorrect platform metadata rather than quietly exposing SEGA’s plans.

What makes the timing particularly curious is that SEGA already has a Sonic kart racer on Apple Arcade.

Sonic Racing, developed by Hardlight and based on Team Sonic Racing, has been available through the subscription service since 2019 and remains playable on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

A full CrossWorlds release would therefore represent something considerably more ambitious than simply giving Apple’s existing Sonic Racing app another update.

And technically, the idea is not completely absurd. CrossWorlds already runs on the original Nintendo Switch, making a version optimized for modern Apple silicon considerably easier to imagine than some of the huge current-generation games that have been ported to iPhone and iPad.

Still, we are nowhere near calling this confirmed.

Right now we have three different levels of evidence:

  • The TapTap page is real, and it really does label Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as an Android/iOS game, but its actual purchase and release information still points to the PC version.
  • The purported Apple Arcade promotional images exist and have now circulated publicly, but their claimed origin from App Store CDN material has not been independently verified.
  • And SEGA’s own official CrossWorlds website still lists only the already announced console and PC platforms.

So for now, treat the possibility of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on Apple Arcade as a rumor.

But considering Sonic City followers stumbled onto that strange TapTap listing before these alleged Apple assets surfaced, we are definitely paying attention now.

If SEGA suddenly adds one more platform logo to the starting grid, at least we’ll know there were warning signs.
