Kristen Bell has officially started recording her lines as Amy Rose for Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

Bell shared the update on Instagram, posting a photo from the recording booth and writing, “In the booth for @sonicmovie 🙌 #AmyRose is coming to life! @rejectedjokes – wish you were here!!!”

The post confirms that Amy Rose’s voice work is now underway for the next Sonic movie, following the character’s tease at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Bell was previously confirmed as the voice of Amy, joining the movie universe as one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.

Her recording session follows recent studio updates from other Sonic the Hedgehog 4 cast members. Ben Schwartz recently confirmed that voice recording for Sonic had begun, while Colleen O’Shaughnessey has also started recording her lines as Tails.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 recently wrapped filming, with director Jeff Fowler marking the milestone by sharing a behind-the-scenes image featuring Metal Sonic. The film is now moving further into post-production, where the live-action footage will be combined with CG animation, visual effects, and voice performances for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Metal Sonic, and the rest of the cast.

A previous copyright preregistration for the film described the story as Sonic being joined by a new hero named Amy while facing “a new technological nemesis known as Metal Sonic.” That short synopsis lines up with the ending of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which introduced both Amy Rose and Metal Sonic as major new additions to Paramount and SEGA’s movie universe.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is currently scheduled to release in theaters on March 19, 2027. With Bell now in the booth as Amy Rose, another key piece of the next movie is coming to life.
