Favorite Teases Sonic Fashion Collaboration Featuring Shadow, Silver and the Werehog

Sonic is heading back into the wardrobe, and this time SEGA appears to be giving one of his stranger transformations a chance to dress up too.

Japanese apparel brand Favorite has teased an upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration, with the full collection scheduled to be revealed on August 28 at 5:00 PM JST. The initial announcement does not show any of the clothing itself, instead presenting icons representing the six characters involved: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Silver and Sonic the Werehog.

That character selection immediately makes the collaboration a little more interesting than the usual Sonic apparel range. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow are familiar choices for merchandise, but Silver and the Werehog considerably widen the scope. The latter is particularly unusual, bringing Sonic’s nighttime transformation from 2008’s Sonic Unleashed into a modern fashion collection nearly two decades after his original appearance.

Favorite is a Japanese fashion label established in Shibuya in 2008, with much of its catalogue built around translating characters and illustrated designs into clothing rather than simply placing artwork onto conventional shirts. The company frequently works with oversized silhouettes, hooded garments, layered designs and color blocking, making the six-character Sonic lineup a potentially interesting fit for its usual approach.

Exactly what Favorite has planned for each character remains unknown. No individual garments, prices or ordering details have been revealed yet, so it would be premature to assume that every character will receive a particular jacket, parka or other piece based solely on the company’s previous work. For now, the teaser only confirms which members of the Sonic cast are represented in the collaboration.

The Werehog’s inclusion nevertheless opens some fun possibilities. Sonic merchandise has increasingly been willing to dig beyond the franchise’s most obvious characters and forms during the 35th anniversary, and seeing Sonic Unleashed represented alongside Sonic, Shadow and Silver is another example of that broader approach.

We will not have to wait long to see what the six designs actually look like. Favorite will reveal the collection on August 28 at 5:00 PM JST, equivalent to 9:00 AM BST / 4:00 AM EDT / 1:00 AM PDT, with further information on the apparel lineup, pricing and availability expected alongside the reveal.

Soon, dressing like the Werehog may no longer require excessive body hair and extremely questionable stretching exercises.
