The reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Fans are excited to see what the new console is capable of and what games will be available at launch, but that enthusiasm took a hit after the price reveal for both the hardware and software. Still, one announcement managed to unite fans in genuine hype—GameCube games are finally coming to Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo’s initial lineup includes The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, SoulCalibur II, and F-Zero GX. Solid choices, no doubt. But one name is suspiciously absent from the launch list—Sonic. Not a single Sonic title is part of the confirmed GameCube library so far, and naturally, fans have something to say about that.

Across social media, Sonic fans have been rallying for the inclusion of several beloved classics from the GameCube era. At the top of the list are Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. The latter has seen a major resurgence in popularity, thanks in part to its influence on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3’s storylines in the movies. These games are long-standing fan favorites, and a rerelease on Switch 2 would no doubt be a hit.

Other GameCube-era Sonic titles are also being thrown into the conversation. Shadow the Hedgehog, while divisive, is getting some love—especially now that Shadow is back in the spotlight thanks to Sonic 3. Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders are also top requests, remembered fondly for their style, energy, and sheer nostalgia.

There’s a lot of hope that Nintendo and SEGA will team up to make this happen. Even if some of these games aren’t perfect, fans are more than willing to revisit them for the music, the memories, and the chance to share them with a new generation of Sonic fans. Sonic Adventure in particular feels like a no-brainer—it’s a core part of Sonic’s legacy, and the more ways to play it, the better.

For now, it’s just a wish list. But considering Sonic’s current momentum and the rising demand for GameCube-era content, it’s not out of the question. And if Sonic’s Twitter team keeps taking cheeky jabs at Nintendo, well… maybe they’re just warming them up for a collaboration.
