Insight Editions has opened pre-orders for Sonic the Hedgehog: Tiny Book, a miniature hardcover written by longtime Sonic writer Ian Flynn. It contains 192 pages covering the blue blur’s 35-year video game history, but at just 1.34 by 1.73 inches, it might be the smallest Sonic history book you’ll ever have to find shelf space for.

Ian Flynn’s Sonic the Hedgehog: Tiny Book Packs 35 Years of Game History Into 192 Pages
Ian Flynn’s miniature Sonic history book measures just 1.34 by 1.73 inches.

Priced at $9.99 USD, the book brings together more than 85 Sonic video game covers, stretching from the original 1991 Sonic the Hedgehog to the series’ more recent adventures. Alongside the artwork, readers will find historical facts, story moments and trivia from across the franchise.

Flynn is a familiar name to Sonic comic readers, having spent nearly two decades working with the franchise across comics, games and other media. This time, he’s taking readers through Sonic’s gaming history in a format small enough to carry around in a pocket.

And the ribbon bookmark has a second job.

It doubles as a hanger, meaning you can display the entire book as a Christmas tree ornament when you’re not reading it. Insight Editions even suggests hanging it from a car’s rearview mirror, although we’d probably stick with the tree.

Pre-orders are available now through Insight Editions’ official store, with shipping scheduled to begin after December 1, 2026. The publisher notes that shipping dates may change and that orders through its website are restricted to the United States and Canada.

At $9.99, it’s a rather affordable little piece of Sonic’s anniversary celebrations. And unlike most Sonic art books, this one won’t demand an entire section of your bookshelf.
