SEGA Sammy has reported another 990,000 Sonic the Hedgehog game units sold between July and September 2026, bringing the series to 1.97 million units for the first six months of the fiscal year.
The figures come from the company’s November 6 financial results, which cover the period from April 1 through September 30, 2026.
Sales have been fairly consistent across the two quarters. Sonic recorded 980,000 units between April and June, followed by another 990,000 in the latest quarter.
The year-on-year comparison tells a different story, though. During the same six-month period in 2025, the Sonic series sold 2.21 million units, including 1.45 million between July and September. That puts the latest six-month total approximately 10.9% below last year’s figure.

These numbers cover full-game sales across the Sonic series, rather than any one title. SEGA has not provided an updated individual sales total for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in these results.
The company previously shared more detailed sales milestones for several Sonic games. As Sonic City reported in June, Sonic X Shadow Generations had reached 3.07 million units, while Sonic Superstars stood at 2.88 million. Sonic Frontiers subsequently crossed the five-million mark in August.
The latest financial report also brings an update from Sonic’s movie business.
SEGA Sammy confirmed that it began recording distribution income from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 during the July–September quarter, adding to the income already being recognized from the first two films.
The company has not disclosed how much revenue the third movie contributed individually. Its wider Animation business reported ¥11.8 billion in sales during the first half, down from ¥14.8 billion a year earlier.
Across SEGA Sammy as a whole, the results were stronger. Group revenue rose 5.7% to ¥212.6 billion, while operating income increased 42.2% to ¥14.3 billion, helped by stronger performance in other parts of the business.
Within Entertainment Contents, catalogue game sales remained solid, and downloadable content and subscription-related revenue performed better than expected. Free-to-play games, however, came in slightly below expectations.
SEGA Sammy is maintaining its existing full-year financial forecast, with several major game launches scheduled for the coming months.
