Sonic the Hedgehog’s brief career as a ZETA DIVISION creator has officially come to an end! The Japanese esports organization announced his departure on September 20, following a final showdown with streamer k4sen at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
The Blue Blur joined ZETA DIVISION’s Creator division in July as part of a limited-time summer collaboration celebrating the organization’s fifth anniversary and Sonic’s 35th. What began with an invitation from k4sen grew into a series of events, appearances and collaborative merchandise, culminating in the pair finally facing each other at TGS.
Their showdown featured three challenges, testing their internal clocks, stepping speed and racing skills in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Sonic emerged victorious in the racing confrontation, but his time with the team was already drawing to a close.
In its official farewell announcement, ZETA DIVISION thanked Sonic for his contributions since joining in July, including his appearances alongside the team’s creators, participation in The k4sen Con 2026 and the TGS competition.
Sonic also left a farewell message for his former teammates:
“The events and game matches at ZETA DIVISION were really fun! Everyone was such a lively bunch, and we had a great time the whole way through. Thanks! Let’s hang out and have fun together again! Bye, k4sen, everyone! SEE YOU!”
The event had originally been planned for September 21, but was moved forward to September 20 after Tokyo Game Show cancelled its final day due to Typhoon No. 25.
Sonic’s departure brings the summer-long collaboration to its planned conclusion, with ZETA DIVISION wishing him well as he sets off on his next adventure.
