Surge the Tenrec and Kitsunami the Fennec are getting into professional wrestling! IDW Publishing has revealed the story behind Sonic the Hedgehog #94, sending the duo into the ring for the next chapter of its Road to #100.
Their latest adventure takes place in Pinfall Prairie, a desert frontier town where wrestling matches are used to settle disputes. Surge has already become something of a local celebrity, with Kit supporting her rise through the ranks, but the pair soon discover that life under the town’s leader, Mama Stinkerton, isn’t quite what it seems.
When the townspeople reveal the darker reality behind their leader’s rule, Surge and Kit are faced with a decision: keep enjoying their newfound success or risk it all to help the people who have taken them in.
The storyline builds on IDW’s earlier hints about a fighting-focused arc, which pointed readers toward issues #94 through #96. We now know that wrestling will play a central role in the opening chapter, although IDW has yet to reveal how the story will develop across the following issues.
The upcoming comic is written by Daniel Barnes and Evan Stanley, with interior artwork by Alex Forrest. As part of its Fall FanFest coverage, IGN has exclusively revealed three covers, featuring Cover A by Elizabeth Richards, Cover B by Mauro Fonseca and a 1:15 retailer incentive variant by Nathalie Fourdraine.
Sonic the Hedgehog #94 is scheduled to arrive in comic shops in March 2027, continuing the series’ interconnected Road to #100 storyline ahead of its milestone issue next year.
IGN’s exclusive also brings something for readers following the current arc, with a seven-image preview of Sonic the Hedgehog #91 ahead of its regular release on October 28.
The issue concludes Silver and Blaze’s adventure at Castle Colossus, where Silver and Dapple must confront Blackwood the Ermine and rescue Blaze from his control.
As Sonic City previously reported, IDW also made issue #91 available ahead of its regular release at New York Comic Con.
