Sonic’s DNA Figure Is Now Available to Preorder for ¥3.3 Million

Remember Sonic’s life-size DNA Figure from earlier this year? Well, SEGA is now offering a smaller version that fans can actually own, provided they have ¥3.3 million to spare!

Preorders for the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG DNA FIGURE opened today through SEGA Store Online, with the made-to-order collectible priced at ¥3,300,000 (tax included). Orders will be accepted until November 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM JST, although reservations may close earlier if the planned quantity is reached.

The figure stands 250 mm (25 cm) tall and comes with an acrylic display base measuring 300 × 212.5 mm. Each copy also includes its own serial number, making it a particularly extravagant addition to Sonic’s 35th-anniversary merchandise lineup.

Created in collaboration with Japanese science collective LOM BABY, the figure contains actual synthetic DNA designed around Sonic’s defining characteristics. These include his appearance, personality and abilities, which are translated into DNA sequences and sealed inside the collectible using a special protective capsule.

It’s the same unusual concept behind the life-size DNA Figure Sonic City covered in June. That original creation made its public debut at SEGA STORE TOKYO on June 23, with synthetic DNA contained inside a Chaos Emerald positioned near Sonic’s chest.

The smaller retail edition brings that anniversary project into collectors’ homes, with the figure itself made from resin and its display base constructed from acrylic. The synthetic DNA uses nucleic acids, while silica is listed among the materials used for the protective component.

There’s also a rather substantial delivery charge to consider. SEGA Store Online lists a ¥63,000 special shipping fee in addition to the figure’s price. Purchases are limited to one per customer, with credit cards accepted as the only payment method. International customers using WorldShopping are initially charged a lower shipping amount before being billed for the remaining costs.

The figure is currently available to order through SEGA Store Online’s official product page, with reservations scheduled to close on November 1.
