Sonic and Shadow are heading back to the oche, and this time they have merchandise with them.
The Sports Darts Project has revealed a new collection of Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration goods created for the 4th Sports Darts Tournament 2026, where Sonic and Shadow are serving as the event’s official support ambassadors. The merchandise will be sold at the DARTSLIVE OFFICIAL SHOP inside Japan Darts Festival 2026 on September 20 and 21.
One of the newly revealed pieces is a Sonic and Shadow back-print T-shirt, with the two characters positioned across the rear of the shirt rather than the front. That placement has already gone down well with at least one Japanese darts player, who pointed out that spectators spend most of a match looking at a player’s back while they throw.
A surprisingly practical bit of Sonic merch design, then.
Sports Darts Project’s announcement confirms that the collaboration goods will be sold in limited quantities, although the accompanying webpage does not provide a complete text list of every product and price. For now, the promotional artwork is doing most of the heavy lifting on the full lineup, so we’re sticking to the items that can be identified cleanly rather than guessing at the rest.
Sonic and Shadow were first announced as the 2026 tournament’s support ambassadors in June as part of SONIC’S RISING ATHLETES, SEGA’s initiative supporting young athletes. At the time, organizers already teased that original merchandise was being prepared, but did not show what it would look like.
That makes today’s reveal the payoff to an announcement that has been sitting there for a couple of months.
The tournament itself takes place at Tokyo Big Sight East Halls 2 and 3 alongside Japan Darts Festival 2026. The U-18 competition runs September 20 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by the U-12 competition on September 21 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Sonic and Shadow also served as support ambassadors for the 2025 Sports Darts Tournament, so this is becoming something of a recurring side gig for the pair. This year’s event expands that relationship with another two-day tournament and a new batch of merchandise made specifically for the occasion.
