Sonic’s 35th anniversary celebration has officially returned to Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis with the launch of Sonic Super Festa 2026.
SEGA rolled out the latest PSO2 New Genesis ver.2 update on June 17, bringing Sonic-themed quests, collaboration Scratch rewards, login bonuses, birthday gifts, revival items, and special boosts to Halpha ahead of Sonic’s birthday on June 23.
As part of the update, Special Training: Sonic Sprint 2 and Special Training: Shadow Sprint 2 have been added as limited-time quests on daily rotation. These Sonic-inspired quests are updated versions of previously released collaboration quests, now featuring changed enemy appearances and adjusted enemy levels.
Players will race across Halpha while collecting Rings and Chaos Emeralds to earn Quest Points. As Quest Points and Chaos Emeralds are collected, players’ abilities will be strengthened, giving them a better chance against the boss enemy waiting at the end of each quest.
The limited-time quests will run from the end of maintenance on June 17 through June 24 at 12:00 PM JST. SEGA notes that Meseta Boosts will not apply to Special Training: Sonic Sprint 2 or Special Training: Shadow Sprint 2.
New Title Tasks and Limited-Time Tasks have also been added alongside the quests. By completing these tasks, players can earn titles and Star Festival ’26 SP Scratch Tickets.
Central City is also joining the celebration with Sonic and friends appearing as statues, giving the hub area a festive look for the anniversary event. A Sonic 35th Anniversary Login Bonus is available through July 15, allowing players to earn up to 100 Sonic Collab SP Scratch ’26 Tickets by logging in during the campaign period.
The limited-time Sonic Collab SP Scratch ’26 is available from June 17 through July 22 at 11:00 AM JST. The special Scratch celebrates Sonic’s 35th anniversary with new collaboration items, including Shadow-inspired setwear, outerwear featuring Sonic artwork, Sonic-related accessories, stamps, and Creative Space build parts.
Featured rewards include the Shadow Costume [Se], Shadow Head, Sonic: 35th Graphic Tote Bag, and BP: Sonic – 35th Graphic Poster. Tickets can also be obtained from the limited-time quests and by collecting Stellar Graces.
Sonic’s birthday on June 23 will bring an extra boost campaign. From June 23 at 9:00 AM GMT+1 through June 24 at 8:59 AM GMT+1, all quests will receive a Rare Drop Rate +250% boost. When combined with PSO2 Day bonuses, the Rare Drop Rate can reach up to 350%, making Sonic’s birthday a strong time to jump into the game.
Players can also claim a special birthday gift by entering the keyword “SONIC_35th_Anniv.” in NGS chat between June 23 at 9:00 AM GMT+1 and the start of maintenance on July 15. Entering the keyword will grant 35 Sonic Collab SP Scratch ’26 Tickets.
A Sonic birthday revival AC Scratch will also arrive on June 23. Titled Revival! Sonic Style Heroines, the Scratch will run through July 8 and bring back collaboration costumes inspired by Sonic, Shadow, and Tails from last year’s June update. Bonus rewards will also include totalwear for Aina, Manon, and Nadereh.
The celebration also ties back to the Sonic Collab: Suits/C-Space Pack, which remains available through the Microsoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and AC Shop. The pack includes the Sonic Costume [Se], Sonic Head, several Sonic-themed Creative Space build parts, character statues for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Eggman, as well as support items such as a Premium Set, Rare Drop Rate boosters, and bonus gifts.
Creative Space items in the pack include Sonic-themed blocks, floors, loops, palm trees, sunflowers, Rings, springs, Dash Rings, and character statues, allowing players to build their own Sonic-inspired areas inside Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis.
The update arrives during a major milestone year for Sonic, who officially celebrates his 35th anniversary on June 23, 2026. Since debuting in the original Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, the series has surpassed 1.77 billion units across full game sales and free-to-play downloads, while expanding into films, animation, music, merchandise, and global events.
With new anniversary quests, Sonic-themed Scratch rewards, returning Sonic collaboration items, login bonuses, birthday boosts, and Creative Space content, Sonic Super Festa 2026 gives PSO2 New Genesis players another way to celebrate 35 years of Sonic the Hedgehog.
