World-renowned bassist, singer, and songwriter Thundercat visited SEGA’s headquarters in Osaki, Tokyo this week, bringing some serious Shadow the Hedgehog energy with him.
The artist, whose real name is Stephen Bruner, stopped by the SEGA building while in Japan for his upcoming tour. During the visit, he posed with Sonic and Shadow, showed off a custom Shadow-inspired outfit, and held a limited-edition Sonic Adventure soundtrack.
Thundercat also met Sonic series sound director Tomoya Ohtani, who shared his own excitement about the visit. Ohtani said he had the incredible chance to meet Thundercat, adding that they briefly spoke about game music influences and bass playing.
“I’m nowhere near his level, but meeting him inspired me to become a better bassist,” Ohtani wrote.
SEGA also highlighted Thundercat’s visit, noting that he is a major fan of Sonic and Shadow. The photos from the visit show the musician smiling alongside Ohtani, Sonic Creative Director Kazuyuki Hoshino, and life-size Sonic and Shadow mascots inside SEGA’s Tokyo headquarters.
Thundercat’s stop at SEGA comes ahead of his Japan tour, which begins at Toyosu PIT. His visit also follows another recent high-profile stop at SEGA Japan from The Weeknd, continuing a fun run of major artists showing love for Sonic and SEGA while visiting Tokyo.
