Limited Run Games has shared a new update on its Sonic X Shadow Generations statue, revealing the second build of the retooled prototype.

The updated statue arrived at Limited Run Games shortly after the team’s previous progress report and has now been shown side by side with the original prototype. According to Limited Run, the new version includes several subtle but noticeable improvements across the sculpt, paint application, colors, and overall structure.

Because this sample is still a 3D-printed prototype, some minor damage occurred during shipping. Limited Run noted that this will not be an issue with the final manufactured statue, which will use proper production materials rather than the more fragile prototype print.

Among the biggest improvements are the revised character sculpts, which Limited Run says are much clearer in person than they may appear in photos. The paintwork has also been refined, with cleaner placement, better sizing, improved color accuracy, stronger blues for Sonic, more vivid reds, and brighter metallic gold accents.

The statue’s base has also been reworked. The new prototype is described as considerably heavier than the original version, with most of the added weight coming from the base. Limited Run says the new base has a more solid interior structure, giving Sonic and Shadow firmer support.

A few minor paint issues were still found, including an off-center Dreamcast logo application, but the team says those should be easy to correct.

The revised Sonic X Shadow Generations statue prototype has now been sent to SEGA headquarters for feedback. Once Limited Run receives SEGA’s notes, the statue is expected to go through what the team hopes will be one final round of fine-tuning before moving into full manufacturing and assembly.
