The LEGO Group and SEGA have revealed 40926 SEGA Genesis Console, a new retro gaming set inspired by one of SEGA’s most iconic systems.
The 479-piece set will launch on June 1 and will be priced at £34.99, $39.99, and €39.99. The release follows last year’s 40769 SEGA Genesis Controller, continuing LEGO’s growing range of SEGA-inspired builds.
The model recreates the classic SEGA Genesis console, also known as the Mega Drive in Europe, and allows builders to customize the set to represent either regional version. The build includes two detachable controllers, a removable game cartridge inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and decorative stickers.
Sonic also appears inside the console itself, giving the build an extra Sonic-themed detail beyond the cartridge. The set measures around 4 cm high, 16 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, making it a compact display piece for LEGO, SEGA, and Sonic fans.

Patrik, Designer at The LEGO Group, said:
“Like many others from my generation, I still vividly remember when the SEGA Mega Drive launched — it felt completely out of this world,” says Patrik, Designer at The LEGO Group. “27 years later, the love for the console is still going strong — I still play mine! Recreating the intricate details and curves of the console with LEGO elements was an enjoyable challenge, despite its difficulty.”
Alex Gomez, VP, Licensing & Partnerships of SEGA of America, also commented on the set:
“This is a building experience that captures SEGA’s gaming heritage and the playful creativity of LEGO play,” says Alex Gomez, VP, Licensing & Partnerships of SEGA of America. “The SEGA Genesis holds a special place in the hearts of gamers and represents a defining era in video game history. With this LEGO set, fans can relive those nostalgic memories while actively engaging with SEGA’s legacy through hands-on creativity.”
The SEGA Genesis first launched in Japan in 1988 before arriving in North America in 1989 and Europe as the Mega Drive in 1990. The console became one of the defining systems of the 16-bit era, with Sonic the Hedgehog helping establish SEGA as a major force in home gaming during the early 1990s.
40926 SEGA Genesis Console will be available starting June 1 in LEGO stores and through LEGO.com.
