SEGA is bringing Sonic the Hedgehog to McLaren Racing Live in Miami, giving fans a new chance to experience the Blue Blur as part of the upcoming motorsport event.
Running from Wednesday, April 29 through Sunday, May 3 at Regatta Harbor in Miami, Florida, the event will feature a dedicated Sonic fan activation as part of the McLaren Racing Live experience. The event will also stream the race throughout the weekend, giving visitors a chance to enjoy both the Formula 1 atmosphere and Sonic-themed activities in one place.
Fans visiting the SEGA space will be able to take part in a range of interactive attractions, including photo opportunities, mascot appearances, exclusive merchandise, and more.
One of the featured activities is the Sonic Speed Trap, where attendees can test their speed by sprinting down a track and crossing the finish line. After completing the run, participants will receive a photo showing the supersonic blur effect created as they raced at Sonic speed.
The event will also feature Sonic and Tails mascot photo opportunities across all five days. SEGA says Sonic will be joined by Tails, who will be making his first public debut. Both mascots will be available throughout the event for fan interactions and photos.
Fans who cannot attend in person will still be able to take part through a new Sonic Rumble Party x McLaren Racing mission event. Beginning Tuesday, April 28 and running through Wednesday, May 13, players will be able to collect the McLaren Racing Sonic skin along with additional McLaren-themed items such as decals, logo plates, and more.
The McLaren Racing Live Miami event will be free to attend, making it an accessible stop for both Sonic fans and racing fans looking to check out the collaboration in person.
The event continues SEGA’s growing partnership with McLaren Racing and gives Sonic fans another high-profile real-world activation tied to the franchise’s wider Racing Around the World campaign.
