SEGA has quietly delisted several classic titles from mobile storefronts, including Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Crazy Taxi, and other legacy games from its retro lineup. While players did receive in-app warnings shortly before the takedowns, SEGA never officially announced a specific delisting date, catching many fans off guard.
The affected games, previously part of SEGA’s Sega Forever program, disappeared from both iOS and Android storefronts sometime yesterday. These titles had briefly been made free to download, offering players one final chance to grab them before they vanished. Anyone who added them to their library during that window will still be able to access and play them, but new downloads are no longer possible.
Here’s the full list of delisted mobile titles:
- Sonic CD
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2
- Crazy Taxi
- Streets of Rage
- Streets of Rage 2
- Super Monkey Ball: Sakura Edition
- Virtua Tennis Challenge
- Shining Force Classics
- Golden Axe Classics
All of these titles were part of Sega Forever, a mobile initiative launched to bring SEGA’s back catalog to smartphones and tablets. The games were ad-supported by default, with a paid option to remove ads. The program now appears to have been quietly sunset, though other mobile games outside of Sega Forever remain available for the time being.
This move echoes SEGA’s December 2023 purge of over 60 classic games from console and PC digital storefronts, including Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi. With rumors of a potential SEGA streaming platform still circulating, fans are left wondering if the company is preparing a unified future for its retro catalog—or simply phasing it out.
