Team Chaotix is finally getting their turn in the spotlight. IDW has revealed the first details and cover previews for the upcoming Chaotix 30th Anniversary Special, a one-shot comic celebrating 30 years of quirky detective action with Vector, Espio, and Charmy.

Announced last year, the special will be written by Scrapnik Island author Daniel Barnes, with a rotating team of artists handling different segments of the story. Each artist will draw a scene told from a different Chaotix member’s perspective—meaning readers can expect clashing accounts, unique visual styles, and plenty of personality as the team tries to crack the case.

While the comic celebrates their 30-year legacy, SEGA has confirmed that classic designs from Knuckles’ Chaotix won’t appear in the issue. This follows SEGA’s current trend of avoiding classic-era visuals for the Chaotix team, despite their 16-bit roots.

According to the official solicitation, the plot centers on a museum heist involving the Mythsonian Museum and a mysterious master thief. Team Chaotix is brought in to investigate, but their conflicting stories make it tough to figure out what actually happened.

“When an elusive master thief threatens to rob the Mythsonian Museum, which detectives are better on your side than Team Chaotix?!
Can Vector, Espio, and Charmy get to the bottom of the museum’s true mystery and crack the case?
Sure they can!
If they could just get their story straight…”

The 32-page comic is scheduled to hit shelves in August 2025 and will retail for $5.99 USD. It features three covers:

  • Cover A by Jack Lawrence
  • Cover B by Kris Dobbins
  • Retailer Incentive Cover by Nathalie Fourdraine

Whether you’re a fan from the Knuckles’ Chaotix days or discovered the team in the Sonic Heroes era, this one-shot promises to be a fun, chaotic ride.
