IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series is heading into a dramatic new era following the milestone events of Sonic the Hedgehog #75. The issue marked the climactic battle between Team Sonic and the villainous Clutch, leading directly into the fallout storyline, ominously titled Scattered Pieces.

Spanning issues #76-80, Scattered Pieces promises to shake up the status quo for Sonic and his allies. With Sonic the Hedgehog #76 now available, IGN Fan Fest 2025 has given fans an exclusive look at what’s ahead, unveiling three covers for Sonic the Hedgehog #79 alongside previously revealed Scattered Pieces artwork.

The storyline is penned by Sonic comics veteran Ian Flynn, while issue #79 features interior art and a main cover by Adam Bryce Thomas, with variant covers by Tyler McGrath and Nathalie Fourdraine. According to IDW’s official description, the issue will spotlight the long-running rivalry between Whisper and the sinister assassin Mimic, culminating in a battle with deadly stakes. Tangle and Silver will attempt to intervene, but with so much history between the two foes, the question remains—can Whisper escape another tragic loss?

Flynn expressed his excitement for the new arc, noting that the Sonic the Hedgehog series has spent seven years building its own unique characters and storylines. With Scattered Pieces, he aims to answer pressing questions left in the wake of the previous arc while setting the stage for writer Evan Stanley’s next major storyline.

The Sonic the Hedgehog comic series has continued to thrive under IDW’s banner, keeping fans engaged with fresh narratives and character-driven conflicts. Sonic the Hedgehog #76 is available now, with #77 set to release on March 19.
