Time to suit up. Sonic Rumble Party Season 9 is officially underway, bringing an Agent-themed collection of skins and Buddies, four new playable stages and some considerably bigger changes to the game’s seasonal systems.

Running from August 26 through September 25, Season 9 takes inspiration from the spy action seen in comics, with Agent Sonic leading the Premium Season Pass alongside the R-1/A Flying Dog Buddy. The free pass includes Pixel Cream and Chocola, while the Red Star Ring Shop adds Agent Shadow and Sage for the season. SEGA is also planning a challenge campaign through the official Sonic Rumble Party Discord that will give players another opportunity to obtain a skin, with details to follow through the game’s social channels.

The Skin Fragment lineup is equally busy. Players can collect fragments toward Gold Style Rouge, Agent Blaze, Agent Metal Sonic and Crystal Tangle, with anyone who completes the full set of seasonal Fragment skins earning AI Racer Amy as an additional completion reward. Season 9 also adds another permanent puzzle to the Toy Capsule rotation, offering 100 additional Red Star Rings once completed.

And yes, Sticks the Badger is now properly available. Sonic City already covered her Season 9 confirmation on August 19, including the opportunity for top tournament players to obtain her early, so her arrival itself is not the surprise here. With the season now live, Sticks has joined the Red Star Ring Shop at a discount for Season 9. SEGA’s Japanese announcement additionally confirms a permanent Sticks Pack pairing her skin with the new Boomerang Throw Skill.

Season 9 expands the actual stage rotation as well. Tornado Trouble and Flower Frenzy have joined Party Rumble, while Ring Survival receives Pinball Carnival Run 3 and Chemical Plant Team. Two more Stage Challenges, Seaside Hill Survival 2 and Sky Sanctuary Ring Battle 2, have also been added.

The more substantial changes are happening outside the cosmetics. Season Stamp Cards are being discontinued beginning with Season 9, meaning new seasons will no longer arrive with a new Stamp Card. Skills previously distributed through them will instead begin rotating through the Ring Shop, while SEGA says it will place additional focus on filling gaps in character-specific Skills. Rainbow Ink, meanwhile, is moving into the free Season Pass.

Special Rumble is also getting a significant overhaul beginning August 31. Low Gravity Battles and Windbound Battles are returning to the rotation, while new Run Battles and Survival Battles will consist of three Run or Survival stages played consecutively. Hyper Boost Battles will remain the most frequent mode for now, but Special Rumble will no longer stick to a single format for an entire week. Instead, two different modes are planned to rotate through each week, with weekly mission progress carrying across whichever mode players choose.

SEGA is also reopening the vault on a selection of older cosmetics. Pre-season items are beginning to return to their respective shops, including Buddies such as Light Chaos Chao, Hero Chaos Chao, Dark Chaos Chao, Pirate Koco, Sonic Omochao, Tails Omochao, Knuckles Omochao, Froggy, Omochao and Cheese, alongside returning emotes and character stickers. Some of these items will appear randomly as shop inventories refresh, while the Red Star Ring Shop itself has received a UI update.

Taken altogether, Season 9 is doing considerably more than swapping one batch of cosmetics for another. The Agent lineup gives it an immediate visual identity, but the retirement of Stamp Cards and the new Special Rumble schedule represent changes that will carry well beyond September.

Apparently the agents were sent in to reorganize the place while they were here.
