The rest of Sonic’s Fortnite crew has officially arrived.

Following yesterday’s launch of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, Epic Games has now opened the full Sonic the Hedgehog Item Shop collection, finally revealing how Shadow the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and Dr. Eggman can be obtained outside the Battle Pass. All three characters are available to purchase directly, joined by enough shoes, weapons, instruments, Chao and Eggman machinery to turn this into considerably more than three new Outfits.

Shadow’s 1,800 V-Buck offer is probably the biggest attraction. It includes the Shadow the Hedgehog Outfit, Doom’s Eye Back Bling and the Super Shadow Transformation Emote, which Epic’s newly published Item Shop page now explicitly identifies as both a Transformation and Built-in Emote. That clears up one detail left uncertain when Sonic City covered the Shadow Cup earlier this week: Shadow really can transform into Super Shadow through his own built-in emote.

Knuckles is available separately for 1,500 V-Bucks, but anyone planning to grab both may want to look at the much larger Shadow the Hedgehog & Knuckles the Echidna Bundle. Priced at 3,600 V-Bucks, the bundle includes Knuckles, his Gloves Pickaxe, Shadow, Super Shadow Transformation, Doom’s Eye, the Chao Egg, Sonic Grind Shoes, Shadow Slip-Ons, Doom Scythe, Chaos Crasher and Shadow’s ARK Angel. Epic lists the combined individual value at 8,300 V-Bucks, making the bundle a 4,700 V-Buck discount.

Some of those extras are considerably more elaborate than their names initially suggest. The Chao Egg Back Bling costs 600 V-Bucks and actually hatches as the player earns eliminations, meaning your little passenger gradually emerges during a match. The Sonic Grind Shoes, meanwhile, cost 1,000 V-Bucks and feature reactive audio while sprinting and jumping, bringing a little more Sonic sound design to Fortnite’s Kicks system than simply strapping his shoes onto somebody else’s feet.

The musical cosmetics are pulling double duty too. Chaos Crasher is technically a Drum instrument and Shadow’s ARK Angel a Guitar, but Epic allows both to be equipped as Pickaxes and Back Blings from the Locker as well. Each costs 800 V-Bucks individually, giving players a few more practical uses for them outside Fortnite Festival.

And then there is Dr. Eggman, who has apparently arrived prepared for several different hobbies at once. His Outfit costs 1,500 V-Bucks, while the 2,000 V-Buck Dr. Eggman Bundle adds Orbot and Cubot, the Egg Hammer, Eggman’s E-TAR and the Egg Mobile. The latter is a 500 V-Buck traversal emote, letting Eggman cruise around in his familiar hovercraft while moving through the environment.

This fills in one of the final major blanks left by Override’s Sonic rollout. We previously established through the crossover comic that Shadow and Knuckles were heading into Fortnite, while the Shadow Cup gave us our first official route to Shadow, Super Shadow and Doom’s Eye. What Epic had not explained was when the characters would reach the regular Item Shop, how much they would cost, or just how large their associated cosmetic collections would be. Dr. Eggman had been even more mysterious, appearing throughout the season’s promotion without a proper breakdown of his playable release.

Now we have the answer, and Epic certainly did not stop at the characters themselves. Between a Chao that hatches mid-match, reactive Sonic shoes, Super Shadow, transformable musical instruments and Eggman driving around in the Egg Mobile, the Sonic side of Fortnite: Override has turned into one of the more substantial cosmetic collaborations the series has received.
