Okay, slight correction to yesterday’s homework.

You will not have to grind to Level 85 for Sonic after all.

Epic Games has now published its full Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override Battle Pass reveal, and the final promotion explicitly states that purchasing the pass will instantly unlock Sonic the Hedgehog when the season begins on August 20. That supersedes the earlier information Sonic City reported suggesting that Sonic would instead be the Level 85 character reward.

And Sonic is bringing quite a bit with him.

The biggest new reveal is Super Sonic, who appears as an alternate form for Sonic alongside a transformation emote allowing players to change between the two during a match. Epic’s Battle Pass overview shows Sonic powering up into his familiar golden transformation rather than treating Super Sonic as a completely separate Outfit.

Which means Sonic will not simply be hitting Fortnite emotes.

He can now become Super Sonic first and make the situation substantially worse.

The other major confirmation concerns Tails. Epic’s previous teaser very deliberately described something related to the two-tailed fox as a “Sidekick,” but stopped just short of actually showing him, so Sonic City kept that one in the strongly-teased category at the time. The complete Battle Pass reveal finally removes the ambiguity: Tails is officially joining Fortnite as a Sidekick, accompanying players during matches and hovering through the air behind them.

Tails is also surrounded by a wider collection of Sonic cosmetics in the pass. The revealed rewards include Sonic-themed equipment such as a pickaxe and Back Bling, alongside additional emotes and items tied to the crossover. One of the emotes seems to even have Tails interacting with Rings in some way.

This makes the Sonic portion of Override considerably more substantial than simply dropping one Outfit into the game. Over the past week we have gone from the initial Green Hill teaser to the Tails hint, the full Fortnite x Sonic comic, Sonic and Shadow appearing in the season trailer, and now a Battle Pass reveal confirming Sonic, Super Sonic and Tails as part of the launch package.

It also clears up another piece of information from yesterday. We previously reported Sonic as the apparent Level 85 reward after the Battle Pass Highlights material placed him at the end of the progression being discussed. Epic’s newer promotional post is much more direct, telling players that picking up the Battle Pass will instantly unlock Sonic. The newer official information takes precedence, so you will apparently be able to start causing problems as Long Sonic considerably sooner than expected.

The Override Battle Pass itself will cost 800 V-Bucks, following Epic’s Battle Pass pricing changes introduced earlier in 2026, and will also be accessible through Fortnite Crew. Epic lowered the standard Battle Pass from its previous price while also adjusting the amount of V-Bucks available through progression.

Beyond Sonic, Override continues its wider Gaming Legends theme with a ridiculous collection of video game crossovers spread throughout the season. Characters and franchises including Mega Man, Persona 5, Crash Bandicoot and Pac-Man have already been shown as part of the wider rollout, although they are not all being distributed through Sonic’s Battle Pass package.

And there are still some important Sonic questions left unanswered. The crossover comic established Fortnite-ready forms for Shadow and Knuckles, while the wider season promotion has already shown Shadow and Dr. Eggman. Their exact cosmetic availability has yet to be properly detailed, meaning Epic and SEGA still have more of this collaboration to reveal.

For launch day, though, the picture is considerably clearer.

Buy the Battle Pass. Get Sonic immediately. Bring Tails along for the ride. Turn gold whenever regular Sonic is no longer sufficiently ridiculous.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override launches August 20, 2026.

Long Sonic was already dangerous.

Now he can go Super.
