Sega has unintentionally revealed internal sales data for several of its top game franchises, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona, and Like a Dragon. The figures appeared in a presentation uploaded to Sega Sammy’s investor relations site before being swiftly removed. However, users on Resetera archived the document before its removal, preserving detailed unit sales across various series.
According to the leaked report, Sonic Frontiers leads the pack among recent Sonic games with 4.57 million units sold. Team Sonic Racing follows with 3.50 million, while the more recent Sonic Superstars reached 2.43 million copies sold. These figures offer a rare glimpse into the franchise’s commercial performance, especially for titles released in the past few years. The presentation also includes the sales numbers for last year’s Sonic X Shadow Generations, which as of March 31st, 2025, the game had reached 2.3 million units sold.
Other notable figures from the document include:
- Persona 5 Royal (including remasters) – 7.25 million
- Persona 3 Reload – 2.07 million
- Shin Megami Tensei V (including Vengeance) – 2.11 million
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – 1.66 million
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon – 2.86 million
- Total War: WARHAMMER III – 2.34 million
- Total War: THREE KINGDOMS – 3.21 million
These numbers confirm the strong momentum of the Sonic series under recent leadership, particularly following the critical and commercial success of Frontiers.
The leak also arrives as Sega celebrates recent achievements, including being named Metacritic’s highest-rated publisher of 2024. Titles like Metaphor: ReFantazio, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth helped secure the honor.
Meanwhile, Sega has also announced Sega Store Tokyo, a new flagship retail location opening in Shibuya’s Parco department store. The location will join other major gaming brands like Nintendo Tokyo, Pokémon Center Shibuya, and Capcom Store Tokyo.
