Sonic, Tails and Shadow have received new Halloween-themed Trick or Treat Sprites in Fortnite, turning the three characters into little orange-and-yellow candy corn-inspired companions as part of this year’s Fortnitemares celebrations.
The new variants arrived on October 8 as part of Fortnite’s sixth New Sprite Day, with FNAssist revealing the full lineup of 23 newly enabled Sprites. Sonic, Tails and Shadow each get their own design, keeping their recognizable faces and hairstyles while swapping their usual colors for a bright, sugary Halloween makeover.
These are new variants of the collectible Sprites introduced in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, rather than additional character skins. Each retains its original gameplay ability: Sonic increases sprint speed, Tails allows players to hover, and Shadow automatically reloads weapons that aren’t currently equipped, eventually extending that ability to the equipped weapon at maximum level.
The Trick or Treat versions also share an additional Halloween bonus, giving players a chance to find candy when opening containers.
If you’re after the three Sonic Sprites, Green Hill Zone is the place to start looking. Players can find them by searching rare chests and Pumpkin Chests, smashing pumpkins or interacting with Cheat Codes around the area. Sprites can also be traded with other players, and successfully extracting one adds it to your collection.
The new additions form part of Fortnitemares 2026, which has brought Halloween-themed changes to the island, new Pumpkin Chests and Trick or Treat Cheat Codes that can reward players with extra treats alongside their Sprites.
There are 24 Trick or Treat Sprites to collect in total, including the Crown variant that became available ahead of the October 8 wave. Beyond Sonic’s trio, the collection includes Halloween designs for Crash Bandicoot, PAC-MAN‘s Blinky, Persona 5‘s Morgana and several original Fortnite characters.
The new Trick or Treat Sonic, Tails and Shadow Sprites are available now in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, so anyone building their Sonic collection has three more little companions to hunt down.
