Bayonetta is heading to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, becoming the first free character announced for the game’s second year of post-launch content.
SEGA revealed the Umbra Witch in a new Tokyo Game Show trailer, confirming that she will arrive as a free addition alongside her own Butterfly Witch machine, special emotes and sounds.
Bayonetta follows a full year of free character additions that wrapped up earlier this month with Amigo joining as the 12th and final free racer of Year One. SEGA has not yet announced when Bayonetta will be released.
The same trailer also gives us another look at the upcoming Godzilla and EVANGELION packs. Both were announced for Year Two during Summer Game Fest 2026, when SEGA confirmed that Season Pass Two would contain six crossover DLC packs in total.
Bayonetta is separate from those paid crossover packs, giving Year Two its first confirmed free racer as SEGA prepares to move beyond the character rollout that carried the game’s first year.
More of the Year Two roadmap will be revealed on October 9 during the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds World Championship Finals and Year Two Showcase livestream. The World Championship Finals are set to bring the top 24 qualifying racers together in New York City, with SEGA now using the same event to reveal what comes next for the game.
With Bayonetta now confirmed and Godzilla and EVANGELION already waiting in the wings, we should have a much clearer picture of Year Two when the October showcase rolls around.
