Sonic Rumble Global Launch Delayed as SEGA Adds New Features and Improvements

SEGA has announced that the global launch of Sonic Rumble has been postponed. Originally scheduled to arrive on May 8, the mobile party platformer will now launch at a later date. The development team is using the extra time to refine the experience and implement new features based on player feedback.

The delay comes after a successful pre-registration campaign, which surpassed 1.4 million signups and earned the game a 4.8 average rating on the App Store in pre-release regions. SEGA says the postponement is necessary to deliver a high-quality Sonic title that evolves over time and remains enjoyable in the long term.

As part of Update 1.2, Sonic Rumble will introduce several new gameplay systems, including:

• Rumble Ranking, a competitive mode where players are placed into leagues and earn rewards based on score
• Crews, allowing friends to team up and complete missions together
• Skills, equippable character abilities that bring added strategy to every round

While a new release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, SEGA has invited fans to a live Q&A on Discord scheduled for May 2 at 1:00 PM UTC. The session will discuss the reasons behind the delay, explain the new gameplay systems, and provide insight into the future direction of Sonic Rumble. Players are encouraged to join and ask questions directly.

SEGA also clarified that any dates currently shown on app store listings are placeholders and not representative of the actual launch date. The official release date will be announced through SEGA’s social media and community channels once it’s finalized.

Despite the delay, SEGA expressed appreciation for the community’s support and enthusiasm. “Your love and support mean the world to us. We are truly grateful,” the statement reads.
