Caitlin Clark brought some Sonic style to the court with her latest Nike Kobe 5 Protro player exclusive.
The Indiana Fever star wore a Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE during the team’s 89-78 win over the Seattle Storm, where she recorded 21 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.
The sneaker quickly caught attention online after appearing on court, with fans and sneaker collectors calling for Nike to release the colorway publicly. For now, though, the Sonic-themed Kobe 5 remains a player exclusive, with no official public release announced.
The design takes clear inspiration from SEGA’s blue mascot. The upper features a bold royal blue color scheme, while white overlays call back to Sonic’s gloves. Red detailing near the heel references Sonic’s shoes, and metallic gold accents around the Swoosh evoke the Rings that have been part of the series since the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

Clark has continued to build one of the most talked-about sneaker runs in basketball, with several themed Nike Kobe player exclusives appearing across her recent games. The Sonic pair joins a growing lineup that has also included pop culture-inspired and career-themed designs, helping turn each new court appearance into a sneaker moment of its own.
The Sonic-inspired Kobe 5 Protro PE also arrives as Clark’s connection with Nike continues to grow. While fans wait for more news on her wider sneaker future, this pair gives Sonic the Hedgehog an unexpected appearance in the WNBA spotlight.
The sneaker is another example of how far the franchise’s iconography continues to reach beyond games, comics, movies, and merchandise. Even without a confirmed public drop, Clark’s Sonic-themed Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE has already made an impression with basketball fans, sneaker collectors, and Sonic fans alike.
