Naoto Ohshima, the original designer of Sonic the Hedgehog, has shared a new draft illustration created for SEGA’s Sonic 35th anniversary celebrations.
The draft was posted by Ohshima yesterday and shows Sonic in a variety of classic poses, highlighting the character’s energy, attitude, and unmistakable silhouette. The artwork offers fans a fresh look at Sonic through the hands of one of the key creators behind his original design.
The finished version of the piece was previously posted on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account on April 27 as part of Sonic Rewind, SEGA’s ongoing celebration of the franchise’s history leading into Sonic’s 35th anniversary.
Sonic the Hedgehog will celebrate his 35th anniversary on June 23, 2026, marking another major milestone for SEGA’s long-running franchise. With the anniversary year already bringing new collaborations, merchandise, events, and special artwork, Ohshima’s contribution adds a fitting creator-focused touch to the celebration.
More Sonic anniversary news is expected in the coming weeks, with Summer Game Fest taking place next month.
