SEGA has announced that the Sonic 35th Anniversary Official Fan Meeting Tour will be held across seven regions in Asia, including Japan, as part of the franchise’s anniversary celebrations.

Applications are now open for the Tokyo event, titled Sonic 35th Anniversary Official Fan Meeting Tour in Tokyo, which will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at SEGA’s headquarters in Tokyo.
The event will feature appearances from Sonic Creative Director Kazuyuki Hoshino and Sonic series Sound Director Tomoya Ohtani, who will take part in a talk session looking back on the history of the Sonic series. SEGA says the event will also include behind-the-scenes development stories and a Q&A session where the development team will answer questions from fans.
The Tokyo fan meeting will take place at SEGA’s headquarters, located at Sumitomo Fudosan Osaki Garden Tower, 1-1-1 Nishi-Shinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. Doors will open at 1:00 PM JST, with the event scheduled to run from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM JST.

Admission will be free, but participation requires advance application and will be decided by lottery.
Fans can apply through SEGA’s official application form until Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 11:59 PM JST. Selected applicants will be contacted by email from May 20 onward.
SEGA says the event will offer fans a chance to celebrate Sonic’s 35th anniversary together while hearing directly from key members of the Sonic development team. Additional presenters are also planned.
Sonic the Hedgehog will celebrate its 35th anniversary on June 23, 2026. Since the original Sonic the Hedgehog launched in 1991, the series has surpassed 1.77 billion units across full games and free-to-play titles combined, while expanding across movies, animation, music, merchandise, and other entertainment.
