DC and SEGA have unveiled the first look at DC x Sonic the Hedgehog, an upcoming five-issue comic book series that brings together Sonic and his friends with the legendary Justice League. Written by Ian Flynn and featuring artwork by Adam Bryce Thomas with colorist Matt Herms, the series kicks off on March 19, 2025. Cover art for the first four issues has been revealed, showcasing the monumental crossover between the two universes, along with interior page previews of DC x Sonic the Hedgehog #1.

The story follows Darkseid as he crosses dimensions to invade Sonic’s world in pursuit of ultimate power. While Sonic and his team have faced formidable foes before, the forces of Apokolips present an entirely new challenge. Fortunately, the Justice League arrives to assist, leading to an epic battle that will push both teams to their limits. With sacrifices looming and unexpected alliances forming, this high-speed collision between DC and SEGA promises to be an unforgettable adventure.

This comic book series is just the beginning of a broader collaboration between Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and SEGA of America. Announced during SEGA’s Sonic Central livestream in September 2024, the partnership will expand into apparel, toys, collectibles, and more, with a special focus on unique hero pairings. Shadow takes on the mantle of Batman, Knuckles embodies Superman, Amy Rose channels Wonder Woman, Silver wields the Green Lantern’s power, Tails becomes Cyborg, and Sonic naturally steps into the role of The Flash.

The campaign kicked off on Batman Day 2024, when Sonic and DC’s social media accounts teased Shadow in a Batman-inspired suit. Merchandise is already rolling out, with the first wave of apparel—featuring Shadow as Batman—available now exclusively at Target.com. More items are set to drop throughout 2025 and into 2026, ensuring fans have plenty to look forward to as this collaboration speeds ahead.

With DC x Sonic the Hedgehog shaping up to be one of the most exciting crossovers in recent memory, fans won’t want to miss this high-stakes team-up when issue #1 hits shelves this March.
