SEGA has been enjoying success with their latest addition to the franchise, Sonic Frontiers. The game has received great reception among fans and critics alike, quickly becoming the second fastest-selling Sonic game of all time.

In a recent announcement, SEGA revealed their acquisition of Rovio, the company best known for their mobile franchise, Angry Birds. During a press conference where SEGA CEO Haruki Satomi and COO Shuji Utsumi presented to detail SEGA’s legacy and future plans following the acquisition, Utsumi shared some exciting news about Sonic Frontiers: the game has reached 3.5 million units sold globally. This makes Sonic Frontiers the most sold 3D Sonic game of all time, surpassing Sonic Heroes which sold a total of around 3.4 million units.
