That mysterious Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Fortnite connection finally has an answer.
Anyone who purchases Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds through the Epic Games Store can now receive Fortnite’s complete Dr. Eggman Bundle at no additional cost, turning the collaboration first teased back in June into a full gift-with-purchase promotion. Both the standard and Digital Deluxe editions qualify, with Epic automatically granting the cosmetics to the same Epic account used for the purchase.
The bundle includes the Dr. Eggman Outfit, Back Bling, Pickaxe, Emote and Keytar Instrument, giving players the complete Fortnite set rather than a single promotional cosmetic. Epic says the reward began being granted from August 20 at 8:00 PM ET, which is also when the Dr. Eggman Bundle became available separately through Fortnite’s Item Shop.
That makes this the payoff to a collaboration Sonic City first covered on June 17, when CrossWorlds appeared during State of Unreal 2026 as one of several games planned to connect with Fortnite through the Epic Games Store. At the time, Epic and SEGA had not explained whether that would mean cosmetics, in-game content, account rewards or something else entirely. Now we know the answer: buying CrossWorlds through Epic gets you Eggman in Fortnite.
And the timing is considerably better than it might initially sound. The standard edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is currently 60% off on the Epic Games Store, meaning players who were already considering picking up the PC version can get the game at a major discount while also receiving the full Eggman set. The Digital Deluxe Edition qualifies for the Fortnite promotion as well, although Epic’s current storefront does not show the same 60% discount on that edition.
There is also a nice safeguard for anyone who already rushed to Fortnite’s Item Shop and bought Eggman before learning about the promotion. If an eligible player already owns the Dr. Eggman Bundle and then buys CrossWorlds through the Epic Games Store, Epic will instead provide a one-time grant of 2,000 V-Bucks. So existing owners are not simply left with a duplicate reward they cannot use.
Gifting works too. Epic confirms that if you purchase Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as a gift through the Epic Games Store, the recipient receives the Fortnite cosmetics, rather than the account that paid for the game.
It is a fairly neat conclusion to a crossover that spent more than two months sitting in the wonderfully specific category of “yes, these two games are collaborating somehow.” Since then, Fortnite: Override has gone considerably further with Sonic than that first announcement suggested, adding Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Eggman, Tails and a much larger collection of themed cosmetics and gameplay. The CrossWorlds side of the equation is now finally clear as well.
If you were waiting for a reason to grab Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on Epic, getting the game at 60% off and having Dr. Eggman thrown into Fortnite for free is a pretty convincing one.
