SEGA has announced that Sonic Rumble will receive a major update, Version 1.4.0, on October 29, introducing new stages, a large-scale co-op boss battle against Biolizard, and a new top league for competitive players called the Master Emerald League. The update also prepares the game for its worldwide launch on November 5.

Maintenance for the update will take place from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM (UTC) on iOS and Android, and continue until October 30 for Google Play Games. Once maintenance is complete, players must update to the latest version before logging in.

Version 1.4.0 adds a wide range of new content and improvements, including several new stages such as Space Colony ARK and Sweet Mountain Run 2, alongside fresh event types like Squad: Starlight Carnival Hunt. Players can also take on new Stage Challenges, including Frozen Factory Hunt, Lava Mountain Team, and Pinball Carnival Ring Battle.

A major highlight is the introduction of the Co-op Battle feature, launching November 20 at 10:00 AM (UTC). Players will team up to take on Biolizard, earning Mission Points that can be exchanged for Skin Fragments and Tune-Up Wrenches, unlocking new customization options.

Competitive racers can also test their skills in the Master Emerald League, launching November 4. Players who reach this top tier will unlock exclusive Nameplate effects, while profiles will now display each player’s all-time Rumble Rankings record.

Other key updates include the addition of Total Skill Level, reflecting the combined level of all player skills, and Seasonal Score Badges, which grant bonus points during limited-time events. A new Ring Claw Machine allows players to spend 1,000,000 Rings (or 500,000 with Rumble Plus) for a chance to earn rewards like Score Badges or Red Star Rings.

The Rumble Plus subscription has also been expanded. Members will now receive increased Ring limits and recovery rates, bonus prizes, exclusive discounts, and access to a Bonus Bank that stores extra XP once the Season Pass is maxed out.

Over 30 Skills have been adjusted for improved gameplay balance. Offensive Skills now reward more Rings on hit, while Absorption and Invincibility Skills have been refined with adjusted cooldowns and ranges for fairer play.

Additional improvements include new achievements, streamlined Skin and Buddy enhancement requirements, revised event schedules, updated shop pricing, and smoother UI transitions across menus.

Lastly, Sonic Rumble now integrates with Google Play Games Services and Apple Game Center, allowing players to track achievements and redeem Google Play Points for Red Star Rings.
