A brand-new all-ages fantasy adventure comic is on the horizon, and it comes from some familiar names in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Writer Daniel Barnes (IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog, The Black Mage) and several artists from the IDW Sonic team have come together to launch ENDLESS FANTASIA, a colorful, action-packed comic inspired by Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Sonic the Hedgehog. The project is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter.
Set in the utopian, skybound city of EverAfter, ENDLESS FANTASIA follows Jack and Jill, two young “hunters” who battle the demonic forces of the Big Bad Wolf, an ancient evil sealed away by a mysterious group known as the Authors. Together, they face monsters, mischief, and magic in a world where classic fairy tales and nursery rhymes collide with fast-paced, anime-inspired action.
The series features artwork by Mauro Fonseca (Sonic the Hedgehog, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures), Rik Mack (Transformers, Felix the Cat), and colorist Nathalie Fourdraine (Sonic the Hedgehog, My Little Pony). Exclusive cover art and posters by Patrick Spaziante—known for his iconic Archie Sonic covers—are also included as part of the campaign.
Described by Barnes as “Kingdom Hearts meets Sonic the Hedgehog,” ENDLESS FANTASIA aims to inspire young readers while capturing the heart and humor of classic adventure comics like Bone and Uncle Scrooge. Partnering with the non-profit Story Leaf, the project’s mission is to promote literacy through comic books, with part of the crowdfunding proceeds dedicated to printing copies for schools and youth readers.
