While much of the recent Lego spotlight has focused on Nintendo’s Mario Kart sets, SEGA’s blue blur is quietly holding his own with a limited-edition surprise. Lego has revealed an exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog set featuring one of his earliest foes: the classic Badnik, Crabmeat.

Available only through the Lego Insider program for 2,000 points, this 181-piece set captures Crabmeat’s original design from the 1991 Sonic the Hedgehog game. The model includes a detailed green and brown base styled after the terrain of Green Hill Zone, staying true to the Genesis-era aesthetic. A clever interactive feature adds extra charm — a trapdoor on Crabmeat’s back opens to launch a small Tocky, mimicking the in-game moment when Sonic defeats an enemy and frees an animal friend.

Unlike retail sets in the current Lego Sonic lineup, this Crabmeat build cannot be purchased with cash. It is a reward exclusive to Lego Insiders, earned only by redeeming points collected from previous purchases or promotional activities. Membership is free, but collecting 2,000 points requires significant engagement or smart timing with double-points events.
