SEGA has officially announced that Sonic Racing CrossWorlds will release both digitally and physically on September 25, 2025. The news was shared during the Summer Game Fest 2025 livestream, accompanied by a new trailer highlighting the game’s fast-paced, dimension-shifting chaos. Pre-orders are now live for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC starting at 69.99 USD. Physical editions for Nintendo Switch, OLED Model, and Switch Lite are also available from 59.99 USD, with digital Switch pre-orders coming soon.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will arrive later, priced at 69.99 USD, and will include an optional paid upgrade path for current Switch players. Fans looking for a collector’s package can grab the massive Physical Collector’s Edition through Limited Run Games. This edition includes exclusive items such as a Sonic and Shadow statue, an IDW tie-in comic, a soundtrack, and more.

CrossWorlds features the largest character lineup in any Sonic racing game to date, with 23 racers available at launch and more arriving through free post-launch updates. Guest characters include Joker from Persona, Kasuga Ichiban from Yakuza, and even Hatsune Miku. The Digital Deluxe Edition expands the roster further with characters from Sonic Prime, including Knuckles the Dread, Rusty Rose, and Tails Nine. It also includes a Season Pass that will introduce even more racers, vehicles, and tracks, including content from Minecraft.

Players who pre-order any digital edition will receive Sonic the Werehog as a bonus racer, complete with his own vehicle and themed decal. Deluxe Edition owners will also get early access beginning September 22, with the exception of Nintendo platforms.

The game introduces several new and returning features:

  • Travel Rings
A brand-new mechanic that allows racers to warp into different dimensions mid-race. The racer in first place during lap two gets to choose where the track shifts next.
  • Gadgets
Over 70 gadgets are available to modify vehicle stats, power-ups, and strategies.
  • Extreme Gear
Hoverboards from the Sonic Riders series return as alternative vehicles with unique handling.
  • Customization
Players can customize their vehicles with parts, power-ups, and abilities to suit their racing style.
  • Modes
Race solo or team up in both offline and online multiplayer. CrossWorlds launches with 24 tracks and 15 unique dimension settings.

Whether you’re racing alone or alongside friends, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is shaping up to be the most feature-rich and stylistic Sonic racer yet. With crossover surprises, deep mechanics, and wild new dimensions, the road to launch has never been more exciting.

What sucks is my finances and the fact that it’s not available on the switch so I cannot get that bundle even if I wanted to which sucks cause that would be cool in my collection right there that bundle I can’t do anything until after July and the purchase window for that bundle is from now until July 6 which is before I’m able to do any Affirm payment plans again which is stupid not the Affirm thing but the length of that freaking window

I don’t know what you are talking about, but it clearly has the Nintendo Switch on it. Were you paying attention?
