SEGA has officially released Sonic × Shadow Generations for Nintendo Switch 2 today, June 5, 2025. To mark the occasion, a brand-new trailer has been published, giving fans a fresh look at the high-speed action and narrative focus of this expanded adventure.
The game brings together two distinct stories. Players can revisit the most iconic stages of Sonic Generations as both Classic and Modern Sonic, while also diving into a completely new storyline starring Shadow the Hedgehog in Shadow Generations. The title has already been a hit on other platforms, with over 2 million copies sold worldwide and an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam.
The trailer highlights the game’s core premise. A creature known as the Time Eater begins to distort reality, forcing Sonic and his allies to travel through key moments from the franchise’s history. At the same time, Shadow must confront enemies from his past in a dark, cinematic campaign that adds depth to his character.
